The Sketchbook Project: A Crowd-Funded Sketchbook Museum and Community Space.

I’m pretty excited about one of my newest adventures. Ever heard of “The Sketchbook Project”? It is a permanent installment of artist sketchbooks in the Brooklyn Art Library that can be looked at by the general public- some even online!.

You go to sketchbookproject.com and place your order. They send you a 5x7 inch sketchbook to fill with your hearts desire and mail back to them. Once it arrives there, they catalog it and it joins the collection in their storefront exhibition space in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY.

Each time your book is pulled from the shelf, you get a notification that someone has looked through it.

So far, there are over 162,081 creative people from all over the globe participating, who represent 101 different countries, for a total of 41, 230 books in the collection. Making it one of the largest in the world!

I ordered mine just before Christmas and am (im)patiently waiting for it to arrive in the mail. Once it does, I will share all the details and unboxing pictures:)
